So, what exactly is small-format wine?
Pretty much what it sounds like.
Small-format wine takes the wine you’d usually find in a full 750ml bottle and gives you a smaller serving instead. At Tiny Wine, that means 100ml glass tubes, each containing a proper tasting portion of seriously good wine.
The important bit? The wine itself hasn’t been made differently. We’re not watering it down, messing around with it or making a special “mini” version. It’s the same wine you’d find in the bottle, simply presented in a format that gives you a little more freedom.
Because, as much as we love wine, opening a whole bottle isn’t always the answer.
Sometimes you want to try something new without committing £30, £40, £50 or £100 to a bottle you’ve never tasted. Sometimes you want to compare three completely different wines side by side. And sometimes you just fancy one glass without having the rest of the bottle staring at you from the fridge for the next four days.
That’s where small format comes in.
Small format vs the traditional bottle
We’re not here to cancel the wine bottle. We quite like them. A full bottle is brilliant when you already know what you love, you’re sharing with friends or you’ve got an evening that calls for one. Small format simply does a different job.
A 100ml serving is enough to properly taste and enjoy a wine, while giving you the freedom to open several different styles at once. Instead of choosing one bottle for the evening, you can taste a Chardonnay next to a Riesling, compare Burgundy with California, or finally find out what all the fuss about Nebbiolo is without buying three bottles to do it.
It also means discovering more ambitious wines becomes a little less risky. Taste first, decide what you love, then go big.
And unlike traditional miniature bottles, which have often been associated with convenience rather than quality, small-format wine can be about something completely different: access to genuinely brilliant wine in exactly the amount you need.
