Soho, sunshine, and wine – what better way to spend the day than catching up with Jeremy Lithgow MW, the brilliant palate behind Amathus’ wine selection? We sat down to talk about hidden gems, wine philosophy, Italian escapes, and an underrated producer from Jura you need to know about.
Meet Jeremy: A Master of Wine With a Masterful Palate
Jeremy isn’t just a buyer—he’s a Master of Wine, one of only a few hundred in the world. More importantly, his taste is impeccable.
“My palate just aligns with his,” says Tiny Wine founder Harry. “When Jeremy recommends something, I don’t even hesitate.”
Wine Is for Drinking – Not Just Collecting
One of Jeremy’s biggest messages? Wine is meant to be enjoyed—not hoarded.
“They should be delicious, desirable, and offer a great experience… wines designed to be drunk.”
We couldn’t agree more. He’s not about dusty cellars and saving bottles ‘for one day.’ He’s about opening the good stuff now.
What’s in His Stash?
When we asked about his collection, Jeremy laughed:
“I think you mean my garage.”
Even so, he’s got some serious treasures tucked away. Think old bottles of Fourrier from Burgundy and (until recently) a magnum of 2000 Rockford Basket Press. He drank it a few months ago—and yep, it was incredible.
Jeremy’s Current Wine Crush? Italy.
Right now, he’s loving Italian wine:
“Wine is cheap to drink, the wines are great… amazing wine, great pasta, incredible scenery. Great people. What’s not to like?”
Honestly, we’re tempted to hop on the next flight.
A Tiny Nod to Small Bottles
In one of our favourite moments, Jeremy mused:
“It would be nice if someone found a way to split bottles into smaller formats… really accessible for people to drink, for a fairer price.”
We promise we didn’t put him up to that! But it’s exactly why we do what we do at Tiny Wine—making great wine more accessible, one small bottle at a time.
A Jura Gem: Damien Courbet
So what did Jeremy pour for us? A glass of Chardonnay Les Isles from Damien Courbet, a winemaker from the Jura.
“The best Jura producer you’ve never heard of,” he says.
The wine? Bright, textured, and full of character. This is Jura Chardonnay with serious charm—and we’re working on bringing it to Tiny Wine soon. Stay tuned.
Final Thoughts
Huge thanks to Jeremy for the wine, the stories, and the inspiration. Whether you’re sipping from a full bottle or a tiny one, we hope you’re drinking well and discovering new favourites along the way.
