We popped into Goodman in Mayfair to link up with our friend Shane, a serious wine lover with a sharp palate and an even sharper turn of phrase.
On the table: a 2005 Nicole Tapon Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. Classic Merlot base, some Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in the mix. Old-school leather, stewed fruit, and leafy character—this bottle is the very definition of winter comfort.
Shane summed it up perfectly: “On a cold morning, I don't think there's any other type of wine that you want than an aged Saint-Émilion… makes you feel like you’re beside a fire, no worries in the world.”
But of course, we had a second glass up our sleeve.
Same wine. Same vintage. Fractionalised six months ago using Coravin’s Vinitas technology. We handed Shane the tube, no setup, no prompting—just a simple ask: try it.
His response?
“That’s really impressive. That is as fresh as you could possibly get. I actually think it’s tighter than this.”
You heard it. Our Tiny Wine tube outshone a 19-year-old Bordeaux straight from the bottle. And Shane wasn’t done:
“I took my first sip and thought, I should drink this slower… which I don’t say to myself too often.”
This is the Tiny Wine mission in action. Preserve. Protect. Pour with confidence. Thanks to Coravin’s tech and a little bit of Tiny Wine magic, a fraction of the bottle still packs 100% of the soul.
Stay tuned. There’s more to taste.
