Tasting note

🦉 Freshness and elegance personified, this is a pretty classic blend of Bordeaux's grape vairieties, characterised by dense notes of violets and damson, with a slightly firmer accent of graphite and pencil shavings.

About the producer

Pédesclaux is a serious player in Bordeaux's winemaking scene. This is a fifth-growth estate, meaning that it's considered among the best operators in the region, and the wines definitely speak for themselves. The estate is fully certified organic, and the winery is entirely gravity-fed, which effectively minimises the use of energy in terms of transferring grapes, juice and wine.

In certain plots, the team also work biodynamically - taking things a step further than traditional organics. The estate is owned by the ever-passionate Lorenzetti family; Jacky, Françoise and Manon. Between them, they have struck the seemingly effortless balance of modernity, history, sustainability, and pretty epic wine.

France

France remains the benchmark for many of the world’s classic wine styles, built on a deep history of regional identity and an appellation system designed to protect it. AOC rules outline where grapes can be grown and how wines are made, giving structure to places such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhône. Key grapes like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah all find their most famous expressions here, alongside countless regional varieties. From the mineral driven whites of the Loire to the rich blends of the south, French wine is ultimately about clarity of origin and a commitment to balance.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most established and influential wine regions, built around a clear structure of appellations, blending traditions, and age-worthy styles.

The region is divided by the Gironde estuary into the Left Bank and Right Bank, each with its own focus. The Left Bank (including the Médoc and Graves) is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, producing structured, tannic reds suited to ageing.

The Right Bank (notably Saint-Émilion and Pomerol) favours Merlot, resulting in softer, rounder styles.
White wines are also important here. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon form both dry, citrus-led whites and the famous sweet wines of Sauternes and Barsac.

Bordeaux’s classification systems, such as the 1855 Médoc Classification, still influence the market today, helping shape global perceptions of quality. Overall, Bordeaux remains a benchmark for blended wines, from everyday bottles to some of the most collectible and investment-led wines in the world.
