Roberto Voerzio

'Il Cerreto' Barbera d'Alba 2021

2021PiedmontItaly15.0%

Il Cerreto is single-site Barbera from a vineyard near La Morra. Roberto Voerzio’s famously low yields and uncompromising selection give the 2021 the same attention normally directed towards the estate’s far more expensive Barolos.

Tasting Notes

Dark cherry, red plum and violet notes burst from the glass with energy and precision. Vibrant acidity and pure fruit character give this Barbera its irresistible charm and remarkable sense of freshness.

About Roberto Voerzio

Founded in 1986 in the prestigious village of La Morra, Roberto Voerzio has established itself as one of the most uncompromising, cult-status icons of the Langhe. Driven by a near-obsessive dedication to quality, the estate employs radical winter pruning and multiple green harvests to achieve extraordinarily low yields from legendary Barolo crus. Eschewing all chemical interventions and artificial manipulation in the cellar, Voerzio transforms pristine Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto grapes into monumental, single-vineyard masterpieces that roar with breathtaking fruit concentration, aristocratic structural power, and a majestic, terroir-driven intensity.

About Piedmont

Piedmont sits in the northwest of Italy and is known for producing some of the country’s most distinctive and characterful wines. Nebbiolo is the headline act here, forming the backbone of Barolo and Barbaresco wines with firm structure and bright acidity. Barbera and Dolcetto add more easy-going everyday (and great value) options, while the region also produces crisp whites from Arneis and Nascetta, as well as the lightly sparkling, sweet Moscato d’Asti. Winemaking in Piedmont leans on tradition with a focus on expressing each vineyard site clearly. The result is a region defined by clarity, structure, and a strong sense of place in every style.
