Tasting Notes

A refined Beaujolais with dark cherry, raspberry, violet, soft earth and a cool mineral edge. The fruit feels vibrant and pure, carried by a silken texture and a taut line of freshness. There is real depth here, but everything stays lifted, graceful and effortlessly drinkable.

About Jean Foillard

Jean Foillard is a cornerstone of Morgon, known for making some of Beaujolais’ most vibrant and soulful Gamay. His work in the vineyards is careful and low-input, and fermentations follow a classical carbonic path without shortcuts. The wines often come from old vines on the Côte du Py and show a mix of gloss, depth and freshness that has made them cult favourites.

Foillard’s style is effortless and charming, proving how serious and delicious Beaujolais can be.

About Beaujolais

Beaujolais sits at the southern end of Burgundy but has a completely distinct identity shaped by the Gamay grape. The region is best known for bright, juicy reds with soft tannins and freshness. The ten named crus, such as Morgon Fleurie and Moulin à Vent, to name a few, offer more structured, serious expressions from villages. Granite-rich soils and a warmer climate help Gamay show both lift and depth, with a strong focus on natural winemaking across the region.

Although part of the wider Burgundy region, Beaujolais stands on its own for vibrant, approachable wines that are easy to enjoy yet full of personality. Producers are also making interesting Beaujolais Blanc from Chardonnay.
