Tasting Notes

Dark cherry, plum and summer berries meet white pepper, cocoa, dark chocolate and a distinctive savoury, granite-like quality. Fine, layered tannins give the wine shape, while bottle age has begun to reveal its more complex, meaty and spicy side.

About Clonakilla

Planted in 1971 by an Irish biochemist who defiantly ignored claims that the region was too cold for viticulture, this Murrumbateman powerhouse pioneered the Canberra District fine wine industry. Spearheaded by second-generation visionary Tim Kirk—who drew inspiration from France’s legendary Côte-Rôtie—Clonakilla forever shook up the nation's wine landscape by introducing a game-changing Shiraz Viognier co-fermentation method. utilising native-yeast ferments on ancient, volcanic red parna soils, this multi-generational icon crafts highly sought-after, cool-climate benchmarks that shimmer with wild berry perfume, intense peppery spice, and an extraordinarily elegant, chiseled majesty.

About Canberra

The Canberra District is a unique, high-altitude landscape defined by a continental climate with cold nights and warm, sunny days. This sharp diurnal shift locks in a beautifully vibrant acidity and a precise, crystalline fruit focus, yielding exceptionally elegant wines with a taut, architectural frame.
