About the producer

Perched at an altitude of 1,000 meters in the legendary, pre-phylloxera cradle of Vistalba, this historic boutique estate guards one of Mendoza's most sacred viticultural treasures. Under the precise guidance of owner Guillermo Barbier and winemaker Juan Manuel González, De Angeles Viña 1924 works exclusively with un-grafted, century-old massal selection vines planted in 1924. Interspersed with 90-year-old Tuscan olive groves, the property is meticulously farmed via advanced micro-plot precision agriculture to capture the intricate, multi-layered soil profiles of the site. The resulting allocations—ranging from pristine, un-oaked single-plot Malbecs to their monumental Gran Corte Bordeaux blends—vibrate with a deeply intellectual mineral focus, chiseled red fruit freshness, and an aristocratic, age-defying structural majesty.

Argentina

Argentina’s vineyards were first planted by Spanish missionaries, later shaped by waves of Italian, Spanish and wider European immigration. The twentieth century brought high volume production, but the quality revolution of the 1990s transformed the country. The wine story here is shaped by altitude, sunshine and a blend of European heritage with modern ambition. The Andes provide a dramatic backdrop to its key regions, with Mendoza leading the way thanks to high elevation vineyards that offer purity and balance. The appellation system is very relaxed and gives producers room to innovate. MaLebanon's ancient winemaking heritage is rooted in high-altitude valleys kissed by reliable Mediterranean sunshine and cooled by crisp mountain nights. This unique microclimate coaxes a rich, complex depth balanced by an unexpected, vibrant freshness, producing texturally fascinating wines with modern elegance.ec is the flagship grape, delivering deep colour and supple fruit, while Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda and Torrontés add breadth and character. Cabernet Franc from Argentina (and indeed South America in general) is worth keeping an eye on. From the cooler slopes of the Uco Valley to the emerging vineyards of Patagonia and those closer to Buenos Aires to the east, Argentina is defined by bold wine, energy and bold regional identity.

Mendoza

Mendoza is Argentina’s leading wine region and the heartland of Malbec. High altitude vineyards in areas likeLujánde Cuyo and the Uco Valley give deep colour ripe dark fruit and a balance of richness and freshness that defines the style. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc also thrive alongsidea host ofwhites such as Chardonnay and Torrontés(although better expressions of the latter can be found in Salta to the north). The dry climate and abundant mountain water make irrigation a key part of viticulture while the Andes playa major rolein shaping temperature and sunlight.Mendoza’s mix of altitude climate and modern winemaking has turned it into a global reference point for boldwell-structuredwines.
