Roagna is one of Piedmont’s most respected traditionalists; a family estate now led by Luca Roagna, who has elevated the domaine’s reputation without changing its core values. The focus is old vines, long macerations and slow ageing in large neutral oak, all aimed at capturing the depth and nuance of Barbaresco and Barolo without rushing a thing. Vineyards like Pajé and Montefico are bottled separately to highlight their individual personalities, and farming is carried out with a light touch to maintain healthy, balanced fruit. Roagna’s wines have a calm confidence to them, offering clarity, tension and a genuine sense of place.

Piedmont sits in the northwest of Italy and is known for producing some of the country’s most distinctive and characterful wines. Nebbiolo is the headline act here, forming the backbone of Barolo and Barbaresco wines with firm structure and bright acidity. Barbera and Dolcetto add more easy-going everyday (and great value) options, while the region also produces crisp whites from Arneis and Nascetta, as well as the lightly sparkling, sweet Moscato d’Asti.
