Tasting note
🦉 A typical Southern Rhône warmth shapes the ripe fruit and soft herbal tones in ‘Les Trois sources. The structure is impressive and refined with plush tannins and smooth texture flowing together elegantly. A composed, layered style with subtle power and length.

About the producer
Vieille Julienne is a benchmark estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, run by Jean-Paul Daumen, who prefers a thoughtful, vineyard-driven approach. The old-vine Grenache parcels are the heart of the domaine, supported by small amounts of Mourvèdre, Syrah and other local varieties.
Farming is biodynamic and the winemaking is gentle, focusing on harmony and depth rather than sheer power. The wines carry a calm intensity, often showing great ageing potential without feeling heavy.
France
France’s wine story begins with Greek settlers, Roman farmers and medieval monasteries that shaped famous regions. It remains the benchmark for many of the world’s classic wine styles, built on a deep history of regional identity and an appellation system designed to protect it. AOC rules outline where grapes can be grown and how wines are made, giving structure to places such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhône. Key grapes like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah all find their most famous expressions here, alongside countless regional varieties.
From the driven whites of the Loire to the rich blends of the south, French wine is ultimately about clarity of origin and a commitment to balance, and modern France continues to evolve, combining precise regional traditions with a renewed focus on sustainability and site expression.
Southern Rhône
The Southern Rhône is all about warm Mediterranean vineyards and generous fruit-driven blends. Grenache is the backbone here, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre (often referred to as ‘GSM’) to create reds that are soft-textured with ripe berry fruit, gentle spice and a touch of herbal character. Famous names like Châteauneuf du Pape sit alongside reliable everyday appellations such as Côtes du Rhône, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. Whites and rosés also feature grapes like Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Viognier, to name a few. Winemaking is straightforward and focused on expressing ripe, healthy fruit, making the Southern Rhône a dependable source of bold, approachable styles.
