Tasting note
🦉 Soft red fruit and gentle spice overlap here within a smooth, easy-flowing, generous mouthfeel. This wine has lift in all the right places and remains supple at the same time. Warm but not too heavy, this Côtes du Rhône is brilliantly balanced and approachable with savoury roundness. One to watch out for!

About the producer
Clos de Caveau is a family estate in Vacqueyras with a striking natural setting, perched on a limestone outcrop surrounded by forest. The vineyards have been organic since the 1980s, and the house style leans toward purity and freshness in a region better known for heft.
Grenache and Syrah dominate, vinified in a way that keeps tannins silky and aromatics lifted. The estate has a peaceful, slightly off-the-beaten-track charm, and the wines reflect that sense of calm and clarity.
France
France’s wine story begins with Greek settlers, Roman farmers and medieval monasteries that shaped famous regions. It remains the benchmark for many of the world’s classic wine styles, built on a deep history of regional identity and an appellation system designed to protect it. AOC rules outline where grapes can be grown and how wines are made, giving structure to places such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhône. Key grapes like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah all find their most famous expressions here, alongside countless regional varieties.
From the driven whites of the Loire to the rich blends of the south, French wine is ultimately about clarity of origin and a commitment to balance, and modern France continues to evolve, combining precise regional traditions with a renewed focus on sustainability and site expression.
Southern Rhône
The Southern Rhône is all about warm Mediterranean vineyards and generous fruit-driven blends. Grenache is the backbone here, supported by Syrah and Mourvèdre (often referred to as ‘GSM’) to create reds that are soft-textured with ripe berry fruit, gentle spice and a touch of herbal character. Famous names like Châteauneuf du Pape sit alongside reliable everyday appellations such as Côtes du Rhône, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. Whites and rosés also feature grapes like Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Viognier, to name a few. Winemaking is straightforward and focused on expressing ripe, healthy fruit, making the Southern Rhône a dependable source of bold, approachable styles.
