Tasting note

🦉 Born from the historic Mondavi–Chadwick partnership, this vintage shows dark berries, plum and gentle spice wrapped in a velvety, mature frame. Harmonious, layered and beautifully composed, capturing the refinement that comes with well-aged Seña. Arguably the best wine to ever come out of Chile.

About the producer

Seña is one of Chile’s most important fine-wine projects, created in 1995 through a partnership between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi. Their aim was simple but ambitious: to craft a world-class Bordeaux-style blend that could stand alongside the greats of Napa and Bordeaux while remaining unmistakably Chilean.

The vineyard in the Aconcagua Valley is farmed biodynamically, and each parcel is harvested and vinified with meticulous care. Seña is known for its poise, structure and impressive longevity.

Its reputation soared after the Berlin Tasting, where it ranked among the world’s top wines, cementing its status as a modern Chilean icon.

Chile

Wine history in Chile began with sixteenth century Spanish missionaries and grew through French influence in the nineteenth century. Its geographic isolation protected vines from phylloxera, preserving old varieties like Carmenère which was originally mistaken for Merlot. A modern quality surge in the late twentieth century positioned Chile as a reliable and increasingly terroir focused producer.

Chile’s wine identity is built around long valleys, Pacific influence and the natural protection of the Andes. Its classification system is based on DO regions that run north to south. A host of familiar grape varieties shape many of the country’s reds, while Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay lead the whites. From the coastal freshness of Casablanca to the structured reds of Maipo and the cooler styles emerging in Itata and Bio Bio where Riesling does well, Chile offers clarity, consistency and a growing focus on terroir-driven winemaking.

Acongagua Valley

Aconcagua Valley sits north of Santiago and is one of Chile’s key regions for bold, structured reds. The warm inland climate suits Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Carménère. Closer to the coast cooler conditions allow for fresher styles, including crisp Sauvignon Blanc and vibrant Chardonnay. The region’s mix of mountain influence and Pacific breezes helps control ripening and preserve balance. With both powerful reds and cool climate whites Aconcagua Valley shows Chile’s ability to deliver clear well-defined wines across a range of styles.
