Tasting note

🦉 Citrus zest, green apple and a salty edge drive a taut, Atlantic-style white wine – a style that we all know and love. Bright acidity lends length and clarity to Terras do Sur’s 2024 Albariño, it has a light texture and a clean, refreshing finish that captures its coastal freshness.

About the producer

Terras do Sur is a small, thoughtful project in Rías Baixas, working mainly in the O Rosal and Condado do Tea sub-regions, where Albariño gains a little more texture and ripeness from the inland warmth.

The team farms with care and keeps the cellar work simple, favouring cool fermentations and a gentle touch to preserve clarity. The wines often show a mix of citrus, stone fruit and a subtle saline edge that feels true to the Atlantic influence.

Terras do Sur has quickly become a name to watch, offering a fresher, more detailed expression of Albariño from this quieter corner of Galicia.

Spain

Spain’s wine history stretches back to Phoenician traders, Roman viticulture and a long monastic tradition. The modern era accelerated after phylloxera pushed French winemakers south, shaping regions like Rioja. Today Spain balances heritage with innovation, reviving old vineyards and native varieties while refining quality across its diverse landscapes.

Spain is one of the most dynamic wine countries in Europe, home to a huge diversity of regions and styles shaped by its varied climate and long winemaking history. You will find fresh Atlantic influenced whites from Rias Baixas and fuller reds from Ribera del Duero and Rioja, where Tempranillo is the headline grape. The appellation system is built around quality tiers such as DO and DOCa which help guide you through everything from crisp Verdejo in Rueda to deep Garnacha from Priorat. Across the country the focus is on expressing place, with modern producers leaning into freshness, balance and regional character.

Rías Baixas

Rías Baixas sits on Spain’s northwestern coast and is one of the country’s most important regions for precise Atlantic-influenced whites.
Albariño is the cornerstone here, and while known for its freshness, the grape also delivers complexity and genuine ageing potential, especially from granite-rich subzones such as Val do Salnés. The region’s cool maritime climate and fragmented vineyard sites encourage detailed vineyard work and a focus on purity.
Small family producers and modern cooperatives sit side by side, all contributing to a consistent regional identity.
Rías Baixas has earned a strong reputation for clarity, definition and long-term quality.
