Taste, texture & character

What’s in the glass?

Fragrant cherry, wild strawberry and violet mingle with a tang of rhubarb and darker berry notes. The texture is supple, with fine tannins that emerge gently as the fruit unfolds. Fresh acidity keeps everything moving, carrying the flavours into a long, precise finish. This is Pinot with an inviting aromatic side and enough detail to reward a slower second sip.

The people behind the pour

Littorai

Ted and Heidi Lemon founded Littorai in 1993 after exploring the cool coastal reaches of California. Ted's formative work in Burgundy, including Domaine Roulot in Meursault, helped shape an approach centred on vineyard expression. Farming takes priority over cellar manipulation, with organic materials and biodynamic methods playing important roles. Les Larmes brings together fruit from several Anderson Valley sites, including parcels also used for vineyard-designated wines. The result offers a broad view of Littorai's work in the valley, while retaining the delicacy and detail that make its Pinots distinctive.

A sense of place

Anderson Valley, USA

Explore wines from USA
Anderson Valley

Anderson Valley lies in Mendocino County in northern California. The Navarro River provides a route for cool Pacific air and fog to move inland, while warm days and cool nights give the vines a long, measured ripening season. Pinot Noir thrives in these conditions. Different positions along the valley bring their own balance of fruit and freshness, making a blend of sites such as Les Larmes a useful introduction to the region.

USA

The USA's wine landscape reaches far beyond powerful reds. Along California's cooler northern coast, Pinot Noir can be fragrant, precise and beautifully fresh. Anderson Valley shows how strongly Pacific weather shapes that quieter side of American wine.
