Tasting note

Dried apricot, orange peel and gentle spice unfold across a lightly gripped, textural palate. Tannins are present but fine, giving structure, while acidity keeps the wine lifted and balanced. Savoury, layered and quietly complex, showing the traditional qvevri style with clarity and control.

About the producer

Dugladze is a long-established Georgian producer with roots in Kakheti, founded by the Dugladze brothers and named in honour of their father. The estate works with classic local varieties such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli, combining traditional Georgian methods with modern winemaking. Alongside still wines, Dugladze is particularly known for its brandy, which has become a major part of the house’s identity. The wines tend to show ripe fruit, structure and a touch of spice, reflecting the warm climate and rich soils of eastern Georgia. It is a producer that bridges heritage and a more contemporary, polished style.

Georgia

Georgia is widely regarded as one of the oldest wine cultures in the world, with evidence of winemaking dating back over 8000 years. Ancient traditions such as fermenting in qvevri have been passed down through generations. Despite periods of foreign rule, Georgia has preserved its identity and today champions indigenous grapes and historic methods.

Kakheti

Kakheti is Georgia’s main wine region and the centre of the country’s long established winemaking tradition. Indigenous varieties dominate, with Rkatsiteli leading the whites and Saperavi the reds, both known for structure and strong ageing potential. A defining feature of the region is qvevri winemaking, where wines are fermented and aged in clay vessels buried underground, often including skin contact for extended periods. The dry continental climate supports reliable ripening while varied soils add further detail across sub regions. Kakheti is recognised for its distinctive methods, historical significance and wines with depth, structure and a clear sense of origin.
