About the producer

Taylor's is one of the great names of the Douro, family-owned and known for a steady, classical approach to Port. They manage prime vineyard sites across the valley, including the famous Quinta de Vargellas, which produces fruit with real intensity and lift.

The house is meticulous about blending and ageing, releasing vintage wines only when the year truly warrants it. Alongside the big declarations, Taylor's also crafts elegant tawny and late-bottled vintage (LBV) ports that show a more relaxed side of the style.

This is a producer with deep roots and a clear identity, respected throughout the region.

Portugal’s wine story spans ancient Celtic and Roman origins, later shaped by medieval trade and the long partnership with Britain. The eighteenth century formalised the Douro as one of the world’s first demarcated regions. Today, Portugal champions traditional grapes, regional identity and a renewed commitment to quality.
The wine identity here is rooted in its proud regional diversity, Atlantic influence and a deep heritage of local grapes. Its classification system centres on Denominação de Origem Controlada (D.O.C.), which highlights origin across regions such as Douro, Vinho Verde, Dão, Alentejo, to name a few. Indigenous varieties drive the character of Portuguese wine, from Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) in the Douro to the bright, zesty styles of Alvarinho (Albariño) and Loureiro in the north. Arinto’s consistent freshness and ability to retain acidity make it a candidate for being the country’s most important white grape. You will also find textured whites from Encruzado and Ferñao Pires and richly fruited reds from top to bottom.

Portugal’s strength lies in its individuality, where climate, landscape, tradition and inherent vinous pride combine to create distinct and expressive wines.

The Douro is one of Portugal’s most historic wine regions, known for both its powerful fortified Port and a strong range of dry wines. Steep schist terraces along the river grow varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), which create structured dark fruited reds.

In recent years, producers have put more focus on fresh, vibrant whites made from grapes like Arinto, Rabigato, Viosinho and Gouveio, often from higher altitude vineyards. Traditional methods remain central in Port production while dry wines benefit from modern cellar techniques.

The Douro now offers a balanced mix of classic fortified styles and confident contemporary reds and whites.

Amber Glow

A beautifully aged Tawny Port with caramel, roasted nuts, dried fig, orange peel and soft spice. The texture is silken and mellow, but still lifted by a vibrant line of freshness. It feels generous, polished and quietly indulgent, with a long, warming finish that lingers like candlelight.

Douro Depth

From Portugal’s Douro Valley, this fortified wine carries the graceful complexity of long cask ageing. At 20% ABV, it has richness and presence, but the shape remains elegant rather than heavy. Think deep amber fruit, nutty detail and a refined sweetness that feels effortless and beautifully composed.

After Dinner

Perfect with blue cheese, roasted almonds, sticky toffee pudding, crème brûlée, fruit cake or dark chocolate with sea salt. This is the glass for slow endings, good conversation and that final pour when the table has gone quiet but nobody wants to leave.

Perfect Measure

The 100ml format gives you one luxurious glass of 30 year old Tawny Port without opening a full bottle. Filled using Coravin Vinitas® technology, each tube is designed to preserve freshness, texture and detail. A small serve with all the richness, depth and ceremony intact.
