Small pours. Big discoveries.

Mullineux 'Single Terroir' Trio

Same grape, vintage and producer; three radically different Swartland soils. Mullineux’s Schist, Granite and Iron Chenins make terroir unusually tangible, revealing how geology changes weight, tension and texture without changing the hands behind the wine.

'Schist' Chenin Blanc 2023

Swartland, South Africa
Chenin Blanc

Yellow apple, white peach and a touch of wild honey give this Chenin Blanc immediate appeal. Beneath the fruit lies a distinctive...

More about this wine

Schist comes from Mullineux’s own Roundstone vineyard on the Kasteelberg. Tasted beside the Granite and Iron bottlings, it completes a rare three-part study of how one grape responds to the Swartland’s defining soils.

Mullineux

'Granite' Chenin Blanc 2023

Swartland, South Africa
Chenin Blanc

Lime zest, green pear and a distinctive flinty minerality give this Chenin Blanc its unmistakable character. There’s an incredible sense of purity...

More about this wine

Granite comes from dry-farmed Chenin bush vines planted in 1976 on the Paardeberg. It is Mullineux’s highest-altitude single-terroir white, designed to isolate what decomposed granite contributes when the grape and cellar work stay constant.

Chenin Blanc

Blood orange, ripe pear and savoury mineral notes create a more layered and powerful take on Chenin Blanc. Rich in texture yet...

More about this wine

The 2023 is only the third release of Mullineux’s Iron Chenin. Its wind-exposed vineyard outside Malmesbury ripens earliest of the trio, making the red, iron-rich soils the clear variable in this tightly controlled terroir experiment.

Mullineux 'Single Terroir' Trio

Chosen by Harry

One Chenin. Three different places.

Mullineux’s Schist, Granite and Iron wines share a grape, a producer and the 2023 vintage. That makes this a particularly focused way to explore three Swartland sites. Pay attention to texture and freshness as much as flavour, and see which differences become clearer when you return to each glass.
