Small pours. Big discoveries.

Sunday Roast Reds

Put the roast on and give the wine some thought. Roagna’s Barbera d’Alba, Tempier’s Bandol, Quinta da Leda and Yalumba’s The Signature bring four different personalities to the Sunday table. From lively Italian red to savoury Provençal depth and generous Australian Cabernet-Shiraz, there’s plenty to compare alongside your favourite cut. Four 100ml pours to explore while the potatoes crisp up, and a delicious way to choose the bottle for next Sunday.

Domaine Tempier

'Cuvée Classique' Mourvèdre Blend 2019

Bandol, France
Mourvèdre / Grenache / Cinsault / Carignan / Syrah

The 2019 is remarkably approachable for young Bandol, showing dark cherry, raspberry, sandalwood and dried Provençal herbs. Savoury depth and chewy tannins...

More about this wine

Roagna

Barbera d'Alba 2020

Piedmont, Italy
Barbera

Dark berries, red plum and sour cherry leap from the glass with remarkable energy. Bright fruit and lively acidity combine to create...

More about this wine

Roagna gives Barbera the patience usually reserved for its Barolo and Barbaresco. Old estate vines, extended submerged-cap maceration and years in neutral wood and concrete turn a supposedly straightforward Piedmontese grape into a serious cellar wine.

More about this wine

Each vintage of The Signature honours someone who shaped Yalumba. The 46th release, from 2015, carries the name of the late Darrell Kruger, whose four decades of service began in the Barossa vineyards.

Sunday Roast Reds

Chosen by Harry

Give the roast four possible partners.

Barbera, Bandol, a Douro blend and Australian Cabernet-Shiraz offer four different answers to Sunday lunch. Start with a taste of each before the food, then compare them again at the table. Notice how freshness and tannins feel alongside the roast, and which wine you keep coming back to.

On the table
