Small pours. Big discoveries.

The Italian Red Table

Put something good on the table and take the scenic route through Italian red wine. Roagna’s Dolcetto and Voerzio's Barbera lead into two expressions of Nebbiolo from Roero and Barolo, before Tuscany takes over with Chianti Classico and San Polino’s Brunello. Six 100ml pours, four grapes and plenty to compare.

More about this wine

Stefano Occhetti left an engineering career to reclaim his grandfather’s low-yielding Nebbiolo vineyard in Roero. The 2021 Riserva is the estate’s top wine, built from sandy hillside soils rather than Barolo’s heavier marl.

The Italian Red Table

Chosen by Harry

Take the scenic route through Italy.

Begin with Dolcetto and Barbera, then compare Nebbiolo from Roero and Barolo before moving to Chianti Classico and Brunello. Six wines make room for both familiar favourites and new discoveries. Follow the changes in freshness, fragrance and tannins, with a little food to bring the comparison to life.

Harry Crowther · Co-founder & wine buyer

On the table

Put out mushroom pasta, tomato ragù and aged pecorino, giving the lighter and more structured reds something to pair with.
